Performs assigned responsibilities under the supervision of the Physician. The NP assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual patient care in an independent role within the Department according to policies and procedures while maintaining standards of the State Nurse Practice Act. All the criteria-based duties and standards within this document will be performed according to policies, procedures and guidelines within this document and the Medical Center.
Education: Nurse Practitioner degree from an approved school of nursing.
Licensure: Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Experience: 1-2 years experience preferred.
Skills: Working knowledge of clinical skills in delivery of patient care. Basic Life Support Certification obtained before completion of orientation and recertification standards maintained.
Interpersonal Skills: Maturity and ability to establish good rapport with physicians, patients, public and staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Good communication skills are necessary because of the constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff.
Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, between other disciplines, departments, families, visitors, and patients.
Physical Effort: Medium: Sometimes involves a maximum physical effort requirement of 50 pounds.
