Wingspan Care Group is a non-profit administrative and management organization that provides a united, community-based network of services so member agencies can focus on mission-related goals and operate in a more cost-effective and efficient manner. Our member agencies include: Bellefaire JCB, Applewood Centers, Inc., Monarch Life Works, and Monarch Teaching Technologies. Through our current member agencies, we offer a variety of treatment, education and prevention programs and services for youth and families including residential treatment, school-based counseling, outpatient therapy, foster care and adoption programs, and autism services.

We currently have an opening for a Clients Rights Advocate to work in our Shaker Heights location as well as in our location in Cleveland. The role is to ensure that Agency clients are treated with respect and dignity and to ensure that the rights of clients are not abridged.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Investigate all client grievances and allegations.

  • Ensure that all client complaints are addressed.

  • Ensure that County agencies and other regulatory agencies are notified of allegations and work with those agencies on investigations, as appropriate.

  • Investigate all incidents referred by the Director of Risk Management or Director of Accreditation and Performance Improvement by conducting interviews with clients and staff as necessary.

  • Reporting findings to appropriate program and administrative staff and assist in the development of corrective actions plans to address client treatment issues.

  • Develop mechanisms that enable clients to express their concerns freely.

  • Train staff in regulations, policies and procedures regarding clients' rights.

  • Attend Performance Improvement and MUI/Incident Committee meetings, appropriate sub-committees, Patient Care Monitoring (PCM) meetings, Root Cause Analysis meetings and MH/AOD Board sponsored Client Right's Advocate meetings.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Agency's systems and clinical records through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision and on-going training.

  • All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.

  • Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client's treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.

  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master's Degree in Social Work or related field, or equivalent work experience is required along with a valid Ohio LSW or LPC.

  • Thorough knowledge of clients rights rules and regulations.

  • Strong clinical skills including expertise in systemic family therapy, crisis intervention, family education, behavioral interventions, and substance abuse therapy.

  • Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities.

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions.

  • Practical and creative problem solving skills.
