ABA Therapist A position description is a brief narrative of one's job functions. It is not meant to entail all facets of one's job/position duties. Summary: Responsible for providing intensive behavioral intervention services to children with autism and other developmental disorders. Essential Responsibilities: Work with the Program Coordinator and other professionals to implement individualized treatment plan for children.
Provide direct individual and group therapy sessions based on goals established in treatment plan.
Complete daily and weekly program documentation, including but not limited to, signing consult notes in accordance with the policy.
Maintain respect and confidentiality for all children supported in clinic.
Must be able to physically manage children with developmental disorders. This includes but is not limited to the provision of therapy while on the floor, running after children, actively playing with the children and dealing with aggressive behaviors.
Must be able to maintain and protect the well-being of children supported in the clinic, including but not limited to, harmful objects or substances. Must be able to implement interventions taught in PCMA training including all physical interventions and restraints.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending all required trainings, participate in conferences and treatment team meetings as required, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks related to field of practice.
Provide in-home or community based therapy as requested based on the desires of the parents or as recommended by the treatment team.
Assist with providing daily transportation for clients to and from the clinic outside of therapy hours in accordance with a weekly schedule
Responsible for daily and weekly chores in accordance with the monthly cleaning schedule
Complete required trainings.
Education, training & experience: Bachelor's Degree in special education, education, psychology, social work or related field required.
Previous experience working with children with autism or in the provision of ABA therapy preferred but not required.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general information.
Have basic computer skills for data entry.
Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop, crawl, walk, reach, lift, climb stairs and run when applicable to the environment.
Must be able to lift from 30 to 50 lbs occasionally when working with children or equipment.
Must be willing to travel using personal vehicle.
Position location: The ABA Clinic is located at 4105 North Walnut Street in Muncie, Indiana. Services may also be provided within the client's home or in other community locations (i.e. community pre-school).
PAID LEAVE/TIME OFF/OTHER BENEFITS: Paid leave is for employees regularly scheduled for 30 hours/week.
