Provides reliability engineering services as a member of an asset management team responsible for the reliability, availability and maintenance of pumping plants, water conveyance systems and facilities for the Central Arizona Project (CAP). Guides the Central Arizona Project (CAP) in identifying solutions to technical multi-disciplinary engineering problems that require the use of independent judgment and initiative in making technical decisions of considerable difficulty and impact. Develops and manages maintenance programs using analytical processes such as RCM, FMEA and RCFA. Uses predictive and condition-based monitoring technologies to assess condition of large pumps, motors, generators, valves, gates, power transformers, switchgear and other apparatus. Uses condition assessments to scope and plan equipment overhauls, specify replacements and repair procedures, and develop asset-based budgets. Tracks and uses various metrics and KPI's to evaluate maintenance program effectiveness. Assures failure modes are appropriately addressed. Recommends and evaluates proposed modifications. Manages spare parts inventory. This position will act as a productive team member, or team leader, on interdependent technical support teams.

Position Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, duties and tasks. Develop and manage an integrated maintenance program for all CAP facilities that incorporates preventive/predictive maintenance (ppm) industry best practices. Develop, assess and modify equipment maintenance plans based on analytical processes such as reliability centered maintenance, failure modes and effects, root cause failure analysis; and reliability and cost targets.Develop and manage asset condition assessment models that use predictive maintenance data to compute condition scores and grades for all major assets. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators and metrics relating to the maintenance program for improvement opportunities. 2. Consult and communicate with CAP management to develop asset-based budgets and work plans.
3. Provide engineering expertise and experience-based knowledge in support of CAP Maintenance, Engineering Resources and Project Management personnel.
4. Provide work direction and training to technicians and craftsmen through the appropriate supervision as needed.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ENGINEER LEVEL:
1A. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Knowledge, Training, Skills & Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or Computer Systems Engineering.Five (5) years total Electrical or Mechanical Engineering experience. Advanced degree, or three (3) years as a CAP Engineer in Training (EIT), or other related experience may substitute for up to two years of total Engineering experience.Advanced proficiency with MS Excel.Must have excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.Ability to work well under pressure of time constraints and to meet deadlines.
Required Certifications or Licenses:Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.This is a safety-sensitive position and requires physical testing.
1B. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

SENIOR ENGINEER LEVEL:
1A. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Knowledge, Training, Skills & Experience:Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or Computer Systems Engineering.A minimum of eight (8) years total discipline specific experience.An advanced degree, or three (3) years as a CAP Engineer in Training (EIT), or other related experience may substitute for two (2) years of total Engineering experience.Advanced proficiency with MS Excel.Must have excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.Recognized discipline specific expertise at CAP or a work environment closely related to CAP.Demonstrated ability to review internally and externally developed plans and specifications for reliability, maintainability, compliance with building codes, safety codes and regulations, and company design standards.Demonstrated ability to analyze power distribution and control systems for functions, failure modes and troubleshooting.Demonstrated superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly discuss difficult and complex maintenance and design engineering issues.

1B. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Knowledge, Training, Skills & Experience:Two years of CAP experience or similar hydro generation or water conveyance project.Demonstrated compliance and understanding of the CAP Electrical Safety and Hazardous Energy Control Programs.Proficiency with MCEGold, DTAWeb, MAINTelligence, AssetCentre, RSLogix, AcSELerator and AutoCAD.Demonstrated understanding of CAP contract administration and procurement procedures, policies, and legal regulations.
ENGINEER & SENIOR ENGINEER:

Independence:
Prioritizes and completes multiple complex and competing projects/tasks/activities with minimal supervision. Applies discipline-specific knowledge, expertise, and training to complex technical problems with little to no input from supervision. Seeks input from employees with different discipline expertise to solve multi-disciplinary problems. Acts as the "lead" engineer on work items as necessary, as appropriate, and/or as directed. Makes decisions or takes action that may have immediate to long-range impact and influence on operating plans and delivery schedules as well as accepted maintenance practices from both an economic and efficiency perspective.

Impact:
Decisions made and work products produced influence the design of modifications to CAP assets, how specific work is to be executed, the accuracy of CAP's technical documentation, including drawings, and impact budget and schedule performance, as well as customer satisfaction. Peer reviews for other engineers to ensure high quality designs, drawings, specifications, and discipline interface. These in turn, impact the ability of CAP to provide reliable water delivery with minimal downtime.

3. INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONTACTS

Type: Clearly communicates and discusses difficult and complex maintenance and design engineering issues. Establishes positive and productive working relationships with all operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel; including operators, maintenance workers, maintenance engineers, journeymen, planners, other engineers, engineering technicians, and all levels of supervision and management. Communicates effectively with vendors, consultants and contractors, as necessary, to complete assigned projects. Professionally and positively reflects the Maintenance Control Department through infrequent contact with CAP Board of Directors. Develops a network of discipline specific expertise outside of CAP. Works effectively with interdependent technical support teams. Works with and/or leads an interdisciplinary technical team. Leads other CAP employees in completing multiple projects with competing needs for resources.

Purpose: The primary purpose of most internal communication is to discuss engineering problems and the recommended solutions and to collaborate within a team context. Contact at higher management levels is to present solutions and seek approval. Outside contact is to ensure CAP specifications are understood and followed, to seek understanding of vendor products, and to develop a network of discipline colleagues on which to rely when necessary.

4. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Provides input on employee performance within area of expertise and responsibility. Provides daily work direction to assigned personnel or members of a technical team. Provides leadership and direction to multiple project teams as dictated by workload and schedule. Trains and mentors other technical employees.
