In this role, the community affairs specialist will be responsible for implementing community participation plans and activities to maximize the involvement of small, women, minority, and other targeted groups and female and minority workers on projects. This role will support project teams in the execution of community participation plans and coordinate workforce diversity on construction projects. The Community Affairs Specialist is responsible for overall management of diversity and social equity including, but not limted to: Support projects in the implementation of community participation programs and activitiesInform project teams of program and reporting requirementsTrain project staff to accurately track participationAssist in the preparation of regulatory agency applications, reports, or correspondenceEnsure all regulatory agency submission materials are timely, accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with regulatory standardsProduce reports to assist with Mortenson's Community Affairs effortsTrack and analyze business and workforce participationIdentify trends, issues, and concernsEstablish relationships with small businesses and subcontractors to assist in project equity plansConduct research to source and identify WMBE firms, certification directories and guidelines, resource lists including community and workforce organizationsServe as a resource to subcontractors regarding the community participation program requirementsPlan, organize and participate in community outreach events Track all invoices related to community affairs events and organizationsDraft and send communication for various community affairs eventsHigh participation in small business, workforce diversity and social equity industry organizations Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsAll other duties as assigned
Associate's degree in related field or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred Minimum threes years experience in Community Affairs with tracking and reporting community participationAbility to interact with a diverse population and build relationships quicklyProficient interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to handle multiple projects with varying deadlines simultaneouslyProficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power PointKnowledge of data analysis and reporting Knowledge of and experience with affirmative action, equal opportunity, and community relationsActive listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback Mortenson is an EOE/Affirmative Action/M/F/Veteran/Disabled employer. #LI-DB1 Category: Social Services , Keywords: Community Services Coordinator
