30% Circulation: Provide services to patrons at the circulation desk in rotation with other circulation staff, use the integrated library system to check books/materials out and in, help patrons locate specific circulating materials or reserve items, and add or update patron records in the library system. Issue borrower's cards to community patrons and patrons from other schools; explain circulation policies and procedures to patrons in person and by phone; suggest improvements to policies and procedures; handle patron complaints, referring the patron to a supervisor as needed; and answer directional and general information questions both in person and by telephone and refer patrons in need of professional assistance to librarians. Receive requests for materials from other Pellissippi State campus locations and process materials for loan to patrons at these locations; pack materials for shipment to other locations; and receive, unpack, and process these materials for return to the collection. Using technically advanced knowledge of the library's systems, assist with initial training and provide ongoing support by telephone and email for circulation technical procedures and policy questions for staff members providing library services at the college's other 4 campus locations. Clerical duties such as filing, answering phones, and making copies; maintain the supply of the various forms used at the circulation desk. Open and close the library during specified hours and secure library equipment. The integrated library system may update or change, so the person in this position must be able to adapt to changes, learn new software, and quickly develop a thorough understanding using the fulfillment areas of the library system. 20% Reserve Collection: Manage and update the Reserve materials collection as needed; locate and retrieve library-owned materials that faculty request for course reserve and process these items for reserve in the integrated library system; receive faculty-owned materials to be placed on reserve; create and delete brief catalog records for the items; withdraw materials from system when returning to instructors. Organize, shelve, and inventory reserve materials. 20% Patron Billing: Notify Accounts Receivable of amounts to bill patrons for non-returned or damaged materials, handle questions and correspondences related to overdue and lost materials, maintain billing records, and communicate with patrons and Business Office staff regarding patron bills; enter billing information into the integrated library system and remove charges when notified patron has paid bill; stay current with technology and apply new knowledge and processes when applicable. 10% Student Workers: Train and supervise student assistants. Schedule student assistants each semester and process their timesheets. Communicate with staff in the Financial Aid Office regarding students assigned to work in this area. 5% Interlibrary Loans: Coordinate interlibrary loan services, both borrowing for the library's patrons and lending to other libraries. Use a web-based service vendor to process and maintain records of requests. Prepare items for shipment and receive returned items. Stay current with technology and apply new knowledge and processes to the job. 5% Library Statistics: Maintain records and gather statistics (interlibrary loan, intercampus loan, overdues/billing) and prepare monthly and annual reports. 5% Library Equipment & Supplies: Maintain library equipment, such as photocopiers, computers, and the security system, by inspecting regularly, cleaning, and adding paper and toner as needed.; notify appropriate personnel for necessary repairs and service calls; instruct and/or assist patrons in the use of photocopiers in the public area. Maintain an adequate inventory of paper, equipment maintenance supplies, and other office supplies needed to provide ongoing service to library users; notify the appropriate personnel within the library or at the College to assure adequate supplies are available. 5% Physical Materials Maintenance: Maintenance of the print-format collection; sort and shelve library materials; train student workers to regularly shelf read, straighten, and dust the physical materials collection; shift materials and adjust the number of materials on shelves to utilize the shelf-space available for the physical collection of materials; assist with annual physical materials inventory; search for items reported missing following the established procedures for searching and tracking. Process materials for withdrawal from the collection. Change location codes for materials being moved. As needed Provide backup for Circulation Librarian and other Circulation Assistant and Campus Library Assistants at all campuses. Preferred Qualifications: · Associates or Bachelor's Degree · At least 1 year of library of higher education experience · At least 2 years of data management experience · Familiarity with Apple iPads. · Familiarity with Banner. · Familiarity with an integrated library system. · Familiarity with Microsoft Excel. · Excellent customer service skills Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Students, faculty, staff and community patrons will receive accurate information and assistance delivered cheerfully and professionally and can easily locate physical materials. Reserve items will be processed, cataloged, and properly made available for loan on a timely basis to support student success. Student workers at the library will be trained to assist with library tasks and their timesheets will be submitted accurately and on time to Payroll. Patrons with overdue or damaged library materials will be billed by Accounts Receivable due to this position accurately keeping track of non-returned and damaged materials as reported in the integrated library system, and the timely reporting of overdue items by this position to Accounts Receivable. Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week Location of Position: Hardin Valley Campus Pay Rate: $25,100 - $30,360/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required.
