Dakota State University is seeking applications for a full-time Admission Specialist in the Enrollment Services Office. The successful candidate for this position will play a vital role within the University to help it reach its enrollment goals and will continuously strive to develop new student recruitment strategies as part of a dynamic admission and recruitment team. The admission specialist will be responsible for representing DSU at college fairs, high school visits, professional conferences, and public events. This professional will facilitate communication between the institution, students and their families through print, email, phone, social media, and web channels. The successful candidate for this position will conduct campus visits and registration appointments with new students and their families and will provide counseling regarding their financing options. This person will be responsible for a recruitment territory and will manage the associated travel, student contact history, and necessary follow-up through software applications provided by the university. Duties assigned to the Admissions Specialist may also include the management of the student-based phone outreach program or the advisement of the Student Ambassador organization. Providing leadership to one of these specialty recruitment programs consists of hiring and training students and enhancing each program's effectiveness through establishing communication goals, designing student motivation programs, and reviewing available data for the development of potential action plans. These additional duties may be assigned as a result of the successful candidate's previous experience and strengths in the workplace. This candidate will need excellent interpersonal, writing and public speaking skills, experience with building and maintaining collaborative relationships, and experience creating and presenting information, so they are able to effectively promote DSU while providing a high standard of customer service. The incumbent will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, communicate with a diverse group of constituents and use critical-thinking and problem-solving skills daily. The Admissions Specialist will have outstanding organizational skills with a willingness to be adaptable in a fast-paced work environment. A Bachelor's degree is required. There will be some evening and weekend work for projects and events as well as occasional travel with overnight stays. Travel is more frequent in the fall semester although recruiters can manage much of their own schedule, provided they are meeting the stated goals, objectives, and timelines established by their supervisor.
