Mill Manager Hudbay Minerals Inc. is a dynamic, fast growing, global mining company with a base of operations in Manitoba (Canada), Peru, Nevada and Arizona. The Arizona Business Unit (ABU) is seeking a Mill Manager to plan, manage, organize, direct, and supervise all plant, mill, metallurgical and process engineering, operations, and plant maintenance activities at the Rosemont Project for ABU. This position ensures conformance to company policies, procedures, and related government regulations. Reporting to the Vice President of ABU, the Mill Manager will be responsible for improving the effectiveness of the subordinate team members to operate the mill consistent with delivering on time, on budget, and on planned quality and recoveries, safe production, sound financial management, and effective working relationships with all stakeholders, as relating to the objectives, philosophy, strategic planning, and comprehensive policies and programs that align with Hudbay. This position is currently located in Tucson but will transition to the Rosemont site, south of Tucson. During the course of regular business, the employee may be required to travel locally as well as internationally, to other business units and the Toronto Corporate office. Duties: The Mill Manager provides advice and direction to senior management and all levels of the organization regarding reliable and predictable production processes, operations budget and capital planning and submission, safety and people management. Directs the mill team in the development, understanding and execution of the mill design and operations including planning and optimizing the mill for achievement of the life of mine plan, designing the structure, selecting, and organizing the technical teams for construction and ongoing operationsNegotiate with suppliers and project sponsors in collaboration with Supply Chain ManagementResponsible for overall management, direction, and coordination of plant and mill operations, including plant and mill maintenance, and process engineering activities and achieves these objectives by delegating authority to key supervisors in production, quality control, maintenance and other related functionsResponsible for short term and long term planning, capital and operating budgets, feasibility, engineering and cost studies for plant operations and plant equipment selection and acquisitionEnsures mill production objectives are met safely, at lowest cost, consistent with quality requirementsDetermines scheduling, manpower, and equipment requirements to meet safety, engineering, production, environmental, and maintenance objectivesCoordinates with mine manager, administration/finance, human resources, environmental, and safety staff with regard to plant/mill interface with these functional areasMonitors plant and mill schedules, survey data, performance indicators, including manpower, and confers with supervisory personnel to implement plant and mill safety, production, and environmental activitiesInvestigates and initiates proper machine/equipment selectionProvides expertise in all areas of plant and mill operationsIs aware of and maintains compliance with federal, state and local mine health and safety lawsSupervises metallurgical and process engineering; plant and mill operations and maintenance; safety; employee relations; environmental; and administrative/finance activities efforts relative to plant and mill activitiesReviews and is responsible for all plant and mill activities to determine the progress of the work, efficiency of operations, and control of costs and expendituresMonitors employee training and employee development activities at plant and mill operationsMonitors employee relations issues at the plant, and millComplies with Company safety awareness programs and promotes safety awareness programs in the plant and mill operationsPerforms other related plant and mill equipment maintenance activities as required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering, or a related engineering discipline from a four year accredited college or universityTen (10) years of metallurgical or process engineering, supervisory, or other management experience in copper production operations with at least three (3) years of managerial experienceProfessional Engineer designation preferredKnowledge of training and supervisory techniques, and employee policies and proceduresKnowledge of Federal and State safety and health regulationsDemonstrated ability to manage and oversee a diverse workforceMust be a good communicator and be able to work in both a team and an individual setting Category: Manufacturing , Keywords: Process Engineering Supervisor
