Construction & Site Manager Hudbay Minerals Inc. is a dynamic, fast growing, global mining company with a base of operations in Manitoba (Canada), Peru, Nevada and Arizona. The Arizona Business Unit (ABU), Hudbay's newest business unit, is seeking a Construction and Site Manager to take responsibility for the supervision of the construction activities on the Hudbay Rosemont Project site and also off site construction. Reporting to the Project Director, the Construction and Site Manager will be responsible for the development, direction, and implementation of the construction management plan from an owner's perspective. This position is responsible for coordination with the EPCM team, and in particular, the Project Director and the Project Control Manager to develop a common approach to the construction management and progress reporting of the Project. This position is currently located in Tucson but will transition to the Rosemont site, south of Tucson. During the course of regular business, the employee may be required to travel locally as well as internationally, to other business units and the Toronto Corporate office. Duties: Develop a construction management plan which will provide the framework for all construction activities for the Project. This includes but is not limited to:Safety PlanContracting philosophy and planPrequalification of contractorsTemporary facilitiesOwner supplied items and servicesManagement of construction contracts under Rosemont Project controlManagement of EPCM Construction Manager to ensure all aspects of construction is in accordance with engineering design specifications, safety, QA/QC, and turnover documentationSupervise third party inspection servicesEnsure that EPCM Construction Manager and Logistics Contractor are properly coordinated for delivery of equipment, materials, fuel, and off site haulage of constructionProvide day to day guidance and owner decisions to the EPCM Construction ManagerAdvise the Project Director of any potential client risk issuesParticipate in formal risk management and identify opportunitiesProvide input into Construction General Terms and Conditions of Contract along with contractor reporting requirementsProvide progress reports to the Project DirectorParticipate in evaluation and recommendations on award of contractsDevelop construction management procedures for contracts directly under Rosemont Project controlManage construction contracts outside of the EPCM Contractor scope to deliver on time and according to scheduleManage construction process and ensure all turnover documentation is correctly assembled, checked, and acceptable to ProjectParticipate in project meetings and make presentations as required by Project TeamReview contractor claims to protect the Rosemont Project interests and make recommendation to the Hudbay Project DirectorApply best practice procedures for Project ControlManage and oversee Rosemont Project construction management staffManage staffing process for Construction Management such that competent, experienced, and cost effective staff are identified, recruited, trained, and assigned to Project Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and/or twenty (20) plus years of experience in construction management on large complex mine facilities or heavy industrial construction projectsMinimum of one (1) billion dollar site management role, or site management experience with multiple areas Preferred Qualifications: Professional membership in PMP or CCM preferred Category: Executive , Keywords: General Manager
