Our Salinas, CA, regional office has a need for a full-time Construction Manager to manage and participate in the installation of solar electric systems on single-family and multifamily homes of low-income residents. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage a team of 8+ construction staffWork with other departments to create monthly installation scheduleCreate weekly construction scheduleRun weekly construction meetingsConduct and manage site visits, inspections, and permit runsManage flow of projects to maintain a long pipeline of install-ready projectsOversee equipment orderingOversee warehouse/inventoryDesign and manage designers of solar-electric systemsOversee installations of solar electric systems with crews of volunteers and/or job traineesEnsure that all solar installations are installed according to GRID Alternatives safety and quality standardsMaintain complete records and data for projects using SalesForceOversee quality controlOther job duties include equipment purchasing, hardware store runs, equipment unloading and loading, answering homeowner and volunteer questions, talking to media and generally participating in activities necessary to make solar happen for low-income families POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Experience managing a solar installation teamExperience in PV system design and installation (single family and commercial)Excellent communication skills (ability to work with volunteers and clients, ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively)Comfortable working as part of a teamComfortable delegating tasks and checking in with employeesExtreme attention to detailKnowledge of building codesAbility to problem solvePhysical ability and mobility required to install solar and carry up to 100 lbs.Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and energy to rapidly growing organizationWillingness to work on evenings and weekendsSome travel throughout our region from Santa Barbara to Santa Clara to Merced countyValid Driver's License Preferred Qualifications NAPCEP PV Installer CertificationPassion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmentalJustice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better placeExperience in training and/or working with volunteersProficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce Sketchup and AutoCAD, Helioscope, Energy Tool Base, Gmail Travel and Work Schedule This position requires work on weekends as well as travel throughout our territory from Santa Barbara to Santa Clara to Merced county. GRID Alternatives provides travel reimbursement, but applicant must hold a valid driver's license. Compensation: This is a full-time position, compensation commensurate with experience.
