Head of Advancement

Essential Functions • Oversees the school's advancement (including Development, Admissions, and Marketing
& Communication). • Serves as the principal advancement decision maker. • Supervises, manages, and oversees the evaluation and development of the advancement department staff. • Supports committees of the Board of Trustees as directed by the Head of School. • Assists in maintaining congruency between the school's board-approved Mission Statement, the Long Range and Strategic Financial Plan and all activities of the advancement department. • Supports and adheres to school policies in all areas of the school's operation. • Supports the Employee and School Handbooks and assists with revisions and updates, when necessary, of the school's fundraising policies and procedures. • Exhibits the behaviors described in the Faculty and Staff: Basic Expectations, Characteristics of Professional Excellence and complies with Physical Requirements and Work Environment. • Is assessed through the Professional Growth and Evaluation Program.
Essential Tasks • Participates in strategic and long-range planning for the school and oversees implementation of plans as applicable. • Plans, prepares, and implements all areas of financial responsibility related to advancement and prepares operating and capital budgets. Approves requisitions submitted by admissions, marketing, communications, and development. • Actively involved in the school's Annual, Major Gifts, Capital, and Planned Giving • Works with the Director of Admissions and Marketing to develop strategies that promote Country Day and influence constituents to feel and act positively toward the school. • Oversees the alumni and parent relations to ensure effectiveness of alumni, grandparent, and parent volunteer programs. • Meets, and hopefully exceeds, fundraising goals. Ensures development information is accurate, appealing, and informational. • Keeps the Head of School and the Board of Trustees' Advancement Committee informed with accurate information about the fundraising activities of the school. • Responsible for upholding all board policies related to fundraising and promotes industry best practices throughout all advancement activities. • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School. • Knowledgeable about Rediker Systems and uses the Rediker admissions module and/or other school management software programs. • Completes various Tasks related to the employee's yearly goals and the school's long range and strategic financial plan. • Demonstrates a willingness to work as part of a team by being service-oriented, flexible, and reliable when helping co-workers accomplish their jobs/tasks at hand. • Fulfill all qualified duties and responsibilities assigned.
Qualifications • Master's degree preferred with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a nonprofit environment. • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and oral expression. • Ability to relate effectively with trustees, other administrators, teachers, operations staff, parents, and students.
