EOE/AA Mexico Academy and Central School District Elementary School Principal Reports to: Superintendent/Assistant Superintendents Supervises: All certified and non-certified staff assigned to the school Goal: To ensure a school climate that promotes the educational development of all students and to provide leadership and managerial oversight to the instructional program that promotes the continuous improvement of student learning Performance Responsibilities: Manages the activities of the school in accordance with school law, board policies, and regulationsSupervises and manages site operation to ensure safety, efficiency, and effectivenessConducts faculty meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the schoolInstructs staff regarding established safety procedures, plans, and supervises fire and other emergency drills as required by law and board policyEstablishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school, leads school-level planning for the improvement of instructionServes on educational committees with students, parents, and/or staff in order to continually improve learning experiences for students and enhance home/school communicationOversees the selection of appropriate instructional materials and monitors the delivery of the instructional programDevelops master schedules and calendars that maximize the possible achievement of program objectivesPlans, organizes, and supervises all curricular and extracurricular activitiesRelates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective discipline policy in accordance with board policy and the students' right to due processParticipates in the planning and delivery of intervention and referral services for students who are having difficulty in their classesPlans and supervises regularly scheduled parent/teacher conferences, arranging for special conferences as necessaryActs as a liaison between the school, home, and community; interprets policies, programs, and assessment results and encourages community participation in the activities of the schoolCoordinates with other elementary school principals to assure consistency in the elementary instructional program throughout the districtScreens, selects, recommends for appointment, directs, and evaluates the performance of certified and non-certified staff members in accordance with the current contractEstablishes and maintains an efficient office system to support the administrative functions of the schoolPrepares and submits the school's budget and monitors the expenditures of fundsEnsures the safekeeping of student and personnel files and other confidential records and documentsEnsures the proper collection, safekeeping, and accounting of school activity fundsPrepares or supervises the preparation of all reports, records, and other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administrationSupports and participates in building and district professional development programsWorks with district office staff to coordinate community use of facilitiesKeeps the Superintendent informed of school activities and needs; works cooperatively with district office staff on matters relating to the school and the districtParticipates in decision-making about school and district-level activities as a member of Administrative CouncilAttends Board of Education meetings and Parent-Teacher Club meetings on a rotating basis with the other Elementary PrincipalsAssumes responsibility for own professional growth by reading professional journals and other publications, and attending appropriate meetings and workshopsPerforms other duties which may be assigned or required by law, code, regulation/board policyMay perform additional duties as requested by the Superintendent Terms of employment: Full-time position Twelve-month position Salary & Benefits as per contract Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the current contract
