Position Overview Butler University is currently seeking a part-time Human Resources Benefits Specialist to coordinate the administration of the College's benefit programs. This individual must have a benefits administration background working with plan compliance. The individual should be comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion while providing superior customer service to internal and external customers. Primary Responsibilities: Manage new and current employee benefit enrollments and changes including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, FSA, HAS, retirement, life, and long-term disability benefits. Work directly with third-party vendors and consultants to resolve issues that may arise with the benefit plan and its members. Maintain FMLA, ADA, ACA and tuition reimbursement/exchange by providing information to employees, determining eligibility according to program policy. Determine retirement eligibility of members, assist employees with the enrollment process, and ensure the accuracy of benefit transactions and compliance. Monitor and take appropriate action regarding benefit enrollment changes, payroll deductions, refunds, plan education, and contribution terminations. Ensure all faculty and staff are given accurate information and appropriate assistance regarding all benefits and leave including COBRA notifications. Participate in new hire orientation and open enrollment presentations Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds. Help to ensure the overall success of the Human Resources Department by performing other duties as assigned Qualifications and Requirements: With a High school degree or equivalent, three (3) years of progressive responsible benefits administration experience in Human Resources is required; OR With a Bachelor's degree, one (1) year of progressively responsible benefits administration experience in Human Resources is required. Knowledge of relevant employment and benefits laws including: ERISA, FMLA, ADA, retirement plans and other benefit plans required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required. Previous experience working with HRIS, preferably PeopleSoft. Experience working in higher education preferred. Must have strong organizational and communication skills with ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Must be very detail-oriented and meticulous with a proven high degree of accuracy Demonstrated professional demeanor.
