PCG seeks an experienced special education district administrator and/or leader to help PCG and schools/districts and the state department of education across New York to improve student outcomes, district policies, interventions, and instructional practice. The Field Associate will provide technical assistance, guidance as well as internal and external leadership in matters of special education policy, compliance, operations, and instructional practice. The chosen candidate will actively lead the design and development of special education content and the delivery of professional development in both in-person or virtual environments. The chosen candidate will deliver local special education summits, professional learning sessions, and develop related policy briefs and supporting materials.
Primary Responsibilities for this position, which will be a minimum of ten (10) months annually, will include: Lead school districts and applicable stakeholders through PCG's delivery of in-person and virtual special education professional development Collaborate with PCG and state/regional teams to create comprehensive professional development programs to support continuous improvement efforts in special education based on adult learning best practices and creative use of available technology Develop, in coordination with PCG and PIT, and state/regional teams, topical themes and supporting materials to drive professional development sessions, focus groups, webinars, etc. Actively participate in local conferences, sharing best practices, instructional and change strategies, and helping position OSE s effort to improve Special Education instruction in schools and communities in New York Work with PCG s New York leadership in providing Special Education instructional and human capital development services Provide insight and guidance to PCG staff members and clients in PCG Online Blended Learning Platform configurations specifically aligning it towards the goals of the NYSED Blueprint for Improved Results with Students with Disabilities and State ESSA Plan Train and coach PCG team members in the areas of New York special education compliance and policy, continually keeping staff members up to speed on current policies, trends, and best practices from the PIT and regional/state level teams Participate in the development and dissemination of special education related white papers, reports, guidance documents, procedure manuals, training materials, and other written materials for school districts
The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of experience in a school setting with demonstrated success and a strong reputation as an exceptional special education classroom teacher, curriculum lead, and/or administrator. Further, the successful candidate will exhibit deep understanding of key policy issues and trends that affect special education in one of the following subject areas: Literacy, Transition, MTSS/RtI Academic/Behavior, Specially Designed Instruction, and/or Special Education Instruction. Must possess a master s degree (or higher) in education or a related field of expertise Must exhibit exceptional writing, research, and presentation skills Must exhibit deep understanding of adult learning (both in person and virtually) and trends that affect special education Must be effective in teaching adults and enjoy working with diverse clients and teams Must exhibit a positive, can-do attitude in tackling complex and persistent problems affecting schools and communities Must have a deep understanding of special education instructional best practices Experience as a supervisor and/or curriculum leader is preferred Candidate must be located in New York #LI-DM1
