This position will be responsible for providing Mechanical Engineering leadership to customer-funded programs and internal research efforts within our Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Space Superiority business units of Harris Corporation.

Job Description:
Mechanical Engineer to lead and perform design, development and analysis tasks for a complex novel spacecraft design hardware including space structures, space antenna systems, launch vehicle interfaces, payload to bus interfaces, and complex electronic packaging in a program team environment. Program support and technical leadership over concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing. Candidate must have strong proficiency in 3D modeling, composite structures design, design for manufacturing, and ability to work independently in or leading in a multi-disciplined team environment.
  • Use mechanical design and analysis software including Creo, MSC Nastran, and FEMAP
  • Establish composite and metallic part design using 3D CAD and FEA
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience in design of primary spacecraft structures
  • Experience in spacecraft thermal control design
  • Expertise in CAD tools, specifically Creo Parametric and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards
  • Experience in design or analysis of space based mechanical structures, electronics packaging or mechanisms, along with engineering drawing development
  • Proficiency in analysis FEA tools such as Femap, NASTRAN, ANSYS
