This position will be responsible for providing Mechanical Engineering leadership to customer-funded programs and internal research efforts within our Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Space Superiority business units of Harris Corporation.

Mechanical Engineer to lead and perform design, development and analysis tasks for a complex novel spacecraft design hardware including space structures, space antenna systems, launch vehicle interfaces, payload to bus interfaces, and complex electronic packaging in a program team environment. Program support and technical leadership over concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing. Candidate must have strong proficiency in 3D modeling, composite structures design, design for manufacturing, and ability to work independently in or leading in a multi-disciplined team environment.
- Use mechanical design and analysis software including Creo, MSC Nastran, and FEMAP
- Establish composite and metallic part design using 3D CAD and FEA
- Bachelor s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in design of primary spacecraft structures
- Experience in spacecraft thermal control design
- Expertise in CAD tools, specifically Creo Parametric and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards
- Experience in design or analysis of space based mechanical structures, electronics packaging or mechanisms, along with engineering drawing development
- Proficiency in analysis FEA tools such as Femap, NASTRAN, ANSYS
