Overview: Under general responsibility, responsible for the nursing management of patients being infused with chemotherapy or biologic therapy agents, fluids and/or other medications. Provides direct patient care, consults with physicians and other nurses, sets clinical standards and is involved with education activities. Acts as liaison between patient/physician and other departments.
Schedule: Average 20 hours/week. 2 week rotation: 7am-6pm
Week 1: Thursday & Friday
Week 2: Wednesday & Friday
The first two weeks of training require full time Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm. This is not optional. Please ensure you available to attend training before applying to this position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Note that these requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform this job.
Demonstrates an ability to communicate (verbal & written) and maintain good relationships with medical staff, management, customers, & other departments. Maintains professional appearance & attitude. Has demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach and apply current theories, techniques and practice. Critical thinking skills, ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Education: Graduation from an accredited Nursing program (RN or BSN). Demonstration of ongoing commitment to self-directed education in oncology and infusion practice.
Experience: One-year current clinical experience in Oncology setting preferred (Knowledge of professional theory and practice to give & evaluate patient care. Skill in applying & modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care.)
Certificate/License: Current State RN license. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association
ONS Biotherapy & Chemotherapy Provider Card Oncology Nursing Certification. If not OCN upon hire, it will be an expectation of employment once eligible.
