Mechanical Design Engineer - interiors

On behalf of my client based in Switzerland, I am currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work with their team based in Switzerland.

Offering an initial 12 month contract with likelihood of being extended beyond that, this is an excellent opportunity to work with a world-leading aerospace company in its sector!

The role:

• Conceptualise and create mechanical designs for aircraft cabin furnishings (eg galleys, cabinets, side-ledges, tables, interior doors etc)
• Support the Manager to develop working methods that ensure efficient work flow
• Effective communication and liaison internally, especially with the Engineering Teams as well as with external Third Parties.
• Review interior design specifications and create manufacturing assembly and installation mechanical drawings
• Bill of materials and component selection activities
• Generate working prototypes for testing and demos
• Preparation of installation instructions and test procedures
• Achieve lightweight and cost saving mechanical design solutions

Therefore, I am ideall seeking candidates that can demonstrate the following skills & expertise:

• Previous experience as a mechanical design engineer, preferably within aviation/cabinet design
• Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar
• Proactive Team player with good communication skills in English; German or French in addition will be an advantage
• Ability to manage time effectively
• Ability to work independently
• Accurate and strong attention to detail and safety
