EMC Specialist - Power Electronics - High Voltage
Responsibilities and Duties
- As an EMC specialist, the candidate is expected to influence the project teams, and how EMC qualification and pre-compliance will occur.
- Lead research and investigation on EMC related studies.
- Lead and improve the EMC & power-electronics aspect of the design to create a low EMC noise design.
- Design single/three-phase EMC filter for 2kW and 100kW application.
- Prepare and manage EMC strategies and control plan for low and high-level systems.
- Create and manage milestone deliverable associated with EMC engineering activities.
- Carry out in-house EMC pre-compliance testing and external EMC compliance testing for AC and DC charging products.
- Write EMC test report, documentations, and system level requirements.
- Perform EM simulation on Altair's FEKO and Maxwell as required.
Essential Skills
- Experienced in using both high-frequency and low-frequency electromagnetic (EM) simulation software's ie Altair's FEKO, Ansys CST, Ansys Maxwell, Elmer, OpenEMS etc.
- Proven experience in improving design to meet EMC requirements.
- Experienced in solving conducted and radiated noise for a wideband-gap high-power converter (Silicon Carbide and Gallium Nitride).
- Knowledge in performing impedance characterisation of component using vector network analyser. (ie Transformer, PCB parasitic, Common-mode, Inductors, Ferrites).
- Experienced in designing AC and DC filters for a high-power SMPS.
- Experience in using single/three-phase LISN, DC LISN, TEM cell, Shielded tent, RF antennas, network analyser and spectrum analysers.
- Experienced in hands on testing of electronic product from EMC pre-compliance testing to external laboratory for certification.
- Knowledge on different material properties of ferrites, nanocrystalline, MU metal, and capacitors.
- Knowledge on good practices for PCB layout, wiring and shielding techniques.
- Knowledge in grounding strategies for EMC.
- Excellent knowledge of electronics as well as EMC fault finding
Nice to have
- Knowledge in heatsink or antenna design is advantageous.
- Experience or knowledge in EN61851-21-2, or UN Reg. 10 or similar is advantageous.
- Familiar with schematic capture, PCB layout (high speed, EMC, and Signal Integrity best practices) is advantageous.
- Familiar with SPI, I2C, Ethernet, I2S, USB, UART communications.
- Knowledge in RF certification (ETSI, spectral mask, Ofcom) is advantageous.
- Knowledge in Magnetics design (Transformer, inductors, Common-mode chokes) is advantageous.
- Knowledge in converter stability analysis is advantageous.
