Technical Consultant - New Insurance Underwriter

Brand new role as a Technical Consultant for a Silicon Valley backed Underwriter, who offer unique solutions into the London Market insurance sector. As Technical Consultant you will play a key role in designing, developing, and running high quality software products.

Main Responsibilities:

• Work with the project delivery lead and for the tech lead to shape the product and technical backlog, supply estimates on complexity, and deliver on the product goals
• Gradually gain ownership of the product code base and the technical roadmap
• Support and mentor the team on software product development
• Handle in-office hours technical support and are responsible for the different environments

• Experience of performing the role of a technical architect
• Deep technology knowledge, and experience in designing and implementing end-to-end solution architectures and delivering innovative solutions as part of a digital transformation programme, including cross platform integration of emerging technology solutions with existing core platforms.
• Prior experience of code development and or design in an enterprise class language (Java, .net etc)
• Experience in delivering end-to-end software delivery life cycle, using agile delivery methods via multi-disciplinary teams
• Architecture and design experience of enterprise applications using proprietary and open-source frameworks
• Well-versed with industry software trends, and be able to find the most appropriate industry patterns and standards for each solution
• Experience in delivering cloud-native applications on hybrid/public cloud eg AWS, Azure
• Working knowledge of modern architecture patterns eg, microservices, data platform, their suitability, complexities and alternatives
• Understanding of DevOps processes facilitating Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines, with experience of supporting go-live & post-live activities
• Experienced in project delivery, you have built relationships with stakeholders, conducted workshops and have the ability to influence others through persuasive communication
• Ability to work independently and manage a team, with a focus on continuous improvement
• Experience or good understanding in at least one insurance sector (ie, General Insurance, Specialty and Reinsurance (including London Market) and Life), and the underlying insurance business processes across the value chain (ie, Underwriting, Policy Administration, Billing, Claims, Reporting etc.).
• Experience in leading teams or workstreams within a wider complex digital transformation programme.
