Senior Desktop Engineer - Permanent - Brighton - £46,000

About the role

The Senior Desktop Engineer is part of the IT Desktop Team within the Corporate Services Directorate. The primary function of this role is to maintain and develop the desktop support function.

As part of the desktop support team, you will be implementing planned project work, packaging and deploying software, and providing dedicated 2nd & 3rd line technical support to 1000+ colleagues who are a combination of both office based (Brighton) and work from home users.

Primary focus areas will include:

  • Windows 10/11 operating system and Microsoft 365 suite - including installation, patching and feature updates.
  • Installation, management and patching of other business applications
  • Apple mobile devices compliance

SCCM/Intune/Endpoint Manager
  • Application packaging and delivery
  • Take ownership of the laptop build process, ensuring it is managed to best practice and built to meet TPR's standard build policy.
  • Ensure that SCCM is up to date and rectify any alerts/errors on the platform.
  • SCCM collections and packages maintenance
  • SCCM Reporting
  • Develop and maintain task sequences for laptop builds
  • Monthly patching schedules for Windows10, O365 and non-Microsoft applications
  • Driver updates
  • Deployments using PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit
  • Develop MI as required for software update reports, software and hardware asset tracking and more.
  • Management of the corporate mobile devices
  • Maintaining boundary groups
  • Assist with GPO creation/maintenance
  • Assist with security vulnerabilities remediation
  • Advise with equipment refresh

General Role
  • Proactive monitoring and prioritisation of incoming supports requests on the ticket system
  • Project work - assisting the project team with the implementation and deployment of software upgrades, new systems, and services in the organisation
  • Develop and maintain support documentation
  • Meeting agreed SLAs for assigned work
  • Establishing root cause of incidents and mitigating re-occurrence
  • Develop and mentor more junior members of the team

Essential
  • Strong SCCM/Microsoft Endpoint Manager & Intune experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience of supporting Windows 10/11 and O365 in an enterprise environment
  • Extensive experience of Active Directory, Group Policies, DHCP/DNS, VPN
  • Working knowledge and administration of Hyper-V environments
  • PowerShell Scripting experience & PS App Deployment Toolkit
  • Windows Defender administration & policies
  • Good working knowledge of Lenovo and Apple hardware
  • Azure AD and Azure administration

Desirable
  • ITIL V3/V4 Foundation certified with experience of working within OSA, SLA & Change Control
  • Azure virtual desktops
  • Windows autopilot
