Head of Technology Practice - Data & Information vacancy at Birmingham City Council

Salary up to £82,000 per annum (depending on skills & experience), 29 days annual leave plus bank holidays, hybrid working pattern, generous pension scheme and many other benefits.

Hays Technology are working in partnership with Birmingham City Council to recruit a Head of Practice leading the Data and Information practice and centre of excellence.

The successful candidate will help unlock better value from the council data assets and increase the maturity of the organisation's use of data, while providing strategic and operational management of data and analytics teams.

Job purpose:
Reporting to the Head of Function - Platform and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, this integral role will have accountability for the data platforms, analytics capability and provision of insight that underpin fit for purpose user-centred products.

You will develop, implement, and iterate data platform strategy and roadmaps to enable the organisation to make the best use of data, digital and technology. Playing a pivotal role in the development of the data and information analytics community, you will also provide expert level thought leadership and direction, take responsibility for professional development of the team and collaborate to ensure that model development is supported and in line with the wider Digital Strategy.

Additionally, you will drive innovation within the area and ensure Digital can capitalise on new advances in data provisioning and visualisation technologies.

Key attributes for this role are:

  • Expert knowledge of developing and using the strategies, systems, processes, controls, and capabilities required to manage data & information
  • Fantastic communication skills, with the ability to influence the whole organisation to adopt digital age approaches to data driven decision making
  • A proven track record of bringing industry best practice into an organisation and using this to drive continuous improvement.
  • An understanding of the wider digital economy and advances in technology.
  • An understanding of agile working at an organisational level.
