7 years as a SQL Server DB Administrator
Experience of designing schemas for OLTP & OLAP databases
Advanced knowledge of data integration and workflow applications (eg, SQL Server Integration Services)
Advanced knowledge of database reporting and analytical tools (eg, SQL Server Reporting Services or Power BI)
Excellent SQL development and tuning skills to generate complex queries
Eight years' DBA experience, including two years' experience implementing shared enterprise database solutions, preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of the following DBA practices and concepts:
Database performance and tuning
Database monitoring, optimizing, and maintenance
Database logs and bug lists
Good to have: AWS
Objectives and Scope:
Leverage database networking technology, and database management, tuning, configuration, and troubleshooting to optimize management of client data warehouse
Perform MS SQL Database architecture development and collaborate with BI and analytics developers to recommend/apply best practices and standards for optimal performance of analytical tools (eg, SSRS, Power BI) and processes
Develop automated processes and develop resource-efficient database packages to support the firm's growing analytics capabilities, including evaluating new and existing technologies and processes for capacity, performance and scalability
Monitor system performance, develop recommendations, and advocate for buy-in of proposed solutions to improve performance and reliability of RDBMS and underlying operating systems
Serve as administrator to manage user accounts, maintain system documentation, manage the installation of firm-wide software, allocating storage space, among others
Manage database backups by recommending and implementing appropriate strategies, and periodically test backups to ensure database recoverability
Provide guidance and support to analytic colleagues to resolve hardware and/or software issues and/or failures on an on-call basis
Maintain and evolve existing enterprise database management system
Optimize DBMS to support performance requirements
Provides expert level DBA services for Production, test, and development databases across all platforms. Works closely with senior developers and logical data modelers to perform physical database design for critical business applications/databases with the largest numbers of interfaces and users.
Performs database administration for server databases, including installations, upgrades, configurations, and patch applications. Performs day to day monitoring, optimizing, and developer support for creation of databases, tables, and indexes. Builds backup and recovery jobs.
Recommends implementation technology to developers.
Conducts performance analysis of applications and database management systems.
Trains and mentor's staff. Resolves the most complex issues elevated from staff with less experience.
Administers and maintains Production, test, and development databases.
Tests and evaluates IT vendor products.
Reviews application designs for compliance with Production acceptance requirements. Ensures backup, recovery, security, reliability, and performance of the systems.
Provides key technical leadership and expertise in large scale projects.
Thoroughly understands and complies with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels. Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Security policies and procedures. Verifies deliverables meet Information Security requirements.
