The NWWI Department of Orthopedics is a sub-specialized, dynamic, and expanding practice with 30 providers in total, including 14 Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will work in a one on one care model with a collaborating and/or supervising physician to provide care for patients with traumatic injuries primarily in adults/geriatrics with occasional pediatric populations. The practice includes: an independent clinic treating patient's complaints, primarily fractures; inpatient rounding, consults, and care coordination; and surgical first assistance in the operating room. The NP/PA will order and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological treatments and therapies; promote wellness and prevention; perform teaching and counseling for patients and families; assess patient needs; develop treatment plans, implement and evaluate results; communicate with the healthcare team, patients, families, (employers, insurers, agencies, etc. as appropriate) to coordinate a patient centered plan of care They apply principles of continuous improvement to all aspects of the job performance.

Must be a Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the WI State Board of Medical Practice.
Eligibility for DEA registration is required.
