Position Overview:

This key position is responsible for the planning and control of all scheduling activities supporting assigned brands globally within Arlon. By using analytical, marketing, and sales data of Arlon, you will effectively forecast future product demands. The Planning/Demand Forecast Manager will balance all global production and inventory levels with demand to support target consistent with customer service levels, inventory turn goals and capacity utilization/staffing requirements, including inventory located at 3PL and Arlon warehouses globally.

Lead development of standard processes for the Planning Department and will be the subject matter expert (SME) for Planning, Scheduling, and Forecasting. Manage the current team of Planners/Buyers (x4) onsite in CA as well as future locations as needed (dotted line).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the Company
  2. Develop and execute all facets of the Sales & Operations (see definition below) process to provide an optimum customer service level and working capital performance as defined by the organizations business operating plans and strategic objectives
  3. Lead the demand planning within the organization.

Sales and Operations Process

  • Partner regularly with the global Marketing and Sales leaders, to ensure the demand consensus process delivers an agreed upon, workable volume forecast (mid and long term); ensure gaps and overlaps are addressed, scenarios are completed and issues appropriately escalated to meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure that the appropriate data is available and accurate to be reviewed at the S&OP process meetings and establish companys supply plan.
  • Communicate company supply plan to Operations management and Planning department in order to plan for changes in production levels.
  • Develops and implements the long term vision and strategy for the Manufacturing Planning Department including global governance for other Arlon locations to comply with.
  • Lead the Sales & Operations management reviews, prepare all data and metrics for review, identify gaps and scenarios that must be presented, guide final decision making on open items and trade-offs, and prepare escalations for executive review where appropriate.

Supply Chain/Inventory Management

  • Recommend and maintain optimal inventory levels at various stages in the supply chain in order to achieve customer satisfaction levels as well as mitigate inventory exposure.
  • Analyze supply and demand issues and facilitate resolution throughout the supply chain.
  • Maintain forecasts and manage links between systems for forecasting, master production scheduling, and inventory.
  • Coordinates the development and maintenance of the production schedule within SAP maximizing efficiencies, while taking into consideration the complexities of production sequence, change over times, material, availability and capabilities.
  • Maintain and utilize inventory models to optimize inventory levels.


  • Subject matter expert for all planning systems, leading the process and system parameter settings for MPS and MRP in a global manufacturing environment with multiple locations.
  • Continually searches for strategic process and system improvement.

Management & Leadership

  • Transform the Master Scheduling team from tactical to strategic value oriented.
  • Develops tools to facilitate a collaborative environment and decision making.
  • Supervise, evaluate and coach team and individual development. Drive a culture of accountability and results through strategy deployment and effective performance management.
  • Leads scheduling meetings to facilitate teamwork, process improvement, and upcoming challenges/issues.
  • Manage individual expectations, ensure focus on performance management, talent management, career assessment and evolution within the team.


  • Works closely with Operations management and Purchasing Manager to resolve scheduling issues caused by material shortages, delays, disruptions, demand changes, or other impacts
  • Works with Purchasing Manager to develop and implement perfectly linked MRP and MPS requirements and timing to forecast raw material requirements for both short term and long term demand.
  • Works directly with Accounting / Finance team to ensure accurate forecasting to be used for weekly or monthly reporting as well as budgeting purposes and managing of working capital.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required - emphasis on supply chain, engineering or data analytics preferred (or other relevant field).
  • Minimum 8 years experience required managing in a planning and/or scheduling environment in a multinational environment required.
  • Must have people management experience.
  • Computer proficiency in MRP/MPS systems, Excel (advanced), Word, Email and database applications required.
  • Within Excel, must be competent in pivot tables, lookups and use of standard formulas.
  • Must have significant data analytics experience within a global organization.
  • Advanced SAP scheduling and MRP experience required.
  • APICS or CPIM certification an advantage.
  • Must be culturally aware and have an international perspective in this role.
