IT Operations Infrastructure Engineer

At Drax we have been working hard to change the way energy in generated. We have converted our power station to run primarily on biomass and we are well on the way to delivering our aim of enabling a zero-carbon, low cost energy future. It is an exciting time to be part of Drax and we have a great opportunity for you to join as an Infrastructure Engineer. You will be working within our IT Operations team, providing expert management of the Drax cloud infrastructure to provide a stable, secure and resilient environment.

You won't be short of things to do, this is an exciting role with a broad scope and an array of interesting challenges.

Typical work could include; ensuring system availability within given Service Level Agreements (SLA's), analyse all operational issues and problems to ensure agreed service levels, pro-actively monitor the environments and resolve any alerts, manage 500+ servers both physical and virtual, manage Storage Area Networks (SAN), maintain high availability and capacity, look to continually improve infrastructure security, investigate future technologies and dealing with service desk escalations.

You will need to have excellent communication skills and a customer centric approach. Dealing with multiple priorities and stakeholders, you will possess excellent troubleshooting skills and a logical approach to problem solving. You will be a team player, but also self-motivated and comfortable working independently.

You'll be responsible for the expert management of our systems. To do this you will need to have experience in design, build and maintenance of VMware servers, Hyper-V servers, storage arrays (ISCSI & Fiber Channel), Veeam backups, Exchange and Active Directory.

Alongside this you will need knowledge of Azure and Office 365 management.

We also want you to bring your expertise ITIL best practice and service level management, IT security best practices and pro-active monitoring and system management tools.
