Job Title: Operations Engineer/Support(Need Active SC Clearance)
Location: Telford (once a week)
Duration: 6 months contract

The services are supported 24/7, so a willingness to perform out of hours support and occasional planned out of hours activities is essential.

Scope/Description of work

The Senior Engineer is responsible for defining and driving technical standards and patterns across Team and enforcing them through the life cycle of the projects.
They should be on point for technical direction to engineers and provide the guidance in terms of our best practices and ways of working.
As our standards and patterns evolve the Senior Engineer will promote these changes through knowledge share sessions.
They should aid in cross pollinating of knowledge and driving DevOps principles and ways of working in terms of speed, quality, and operational efficiency.

Necessary experience/Skills

Knowledge of application development and operational engineering (live support), current industry best practice, the experience to build and operate Legacy and modern services efficiently, and the ability to lead and mentor technical teams to do the same.

Technical skills required

Strong working knowledge or similar with an desire to learn these specific technologies using WebLogic, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL and Unix
Experience in Java, Git (preferably) Bitbucket, CI Pipelines (preferably Bamboo), Maven.
Understanding of Tivoli Workload Scheduler would be beneficial.
Experience of Cloud based infrastructure is desirable, along with an understanding of application security principles, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.

Deliverables & Responsibilities

Providing cross project technical and delivery governance to highlight repeatable elements within a project and enforcing the practices instilled within day to day work
Promoting engineering practices in team, ensuring good practices and reusable components are developed and shared.
Upskilling of the team and knowledge through continual learning to reduce reliance on individuals and single points of contacts/failure within the team
Proactive in identifying technical and process improvements with Services to aid more efficient delivery of projects
Help to identify how we embed quality assurance into our projects
