1st Line Support Service Desk Engineer

Location - Cambridge on site

Salary £20,000 - £24,000

Based in Cambridge this company offers support to clients with outsourced IT around the UK and abroad. They provide bespoke onsite & remote support to exciting, high growth and ground-breaking SMEs in sectors including biotechnology, life sciences and finance. The role

Working as part of a busy Service Desk team, based at our Cambridge office, providing remote support by email, telephone or in person.

Deploying client hardware (laptops, desktops, Servers).

Undertaking varied and interesting project work for clients, giving you opportunities to extend your skills and work with other team members in the business.

Monitoring client's IT services remotely and taking ownership of issues when required.

A typical day in the job

Responsible for first-line support for clients, managing a wide variety of incoming tickets, phone calls, and enquiries.

Diagnosing and troubleshooting IT Issues through discussions and remote sessions with end users.

Managing security tasks such as backups for client data, password resets, site permissions etc.

Monitoring client Servers for anomalous behaviour, and adverse client impact.

Identifying and applying appropriate testing methodologies to hardware and software for further analysis of existing problems.

Installing and configuring a range of hardware and software, both physically and remotely.

Experience working within an IT helpdesk environment.

An aptitude for good customer service with a friendly and professional attitude.

A willingness to learn and develop your IT skills.

A determined and positive problem-solving mindset motivated to see the challenge through to resolution
