An overview of the role

This is a senior role within the Capgemini HMRC Market Unit Commercial Team, providing ongoing Commercial and Contractual leadership for Projects, Programmes and Services Teams. Account turnover circa £400m pa.

We are expanding the Commercial team recognising successful "wins" on new client contracts, this is an exciting time for us as we face different challenges and ways of working with a client of long standing.

Our HMRC team is also part of the UK and Global Commercial discipline which provides opportunities to add more depth and breadth to all our career journeys.

Why this role?

The role will also provide commercial support, insight and leadership to new client tenders/bids and if successful the establishment and contract management of those opportunities during their life cycle.

What you'll do:

  • Senior role in the contract management for new public sector contract structures

  • Review and commercial approval of new bids Change Requests, Proposals and Contract Change Notes

  • Managing the commercial input to client proposals and bids and leading subsequent commercial negotiations

  • Leading on commercial Issues escalation, investigation and resolution

  • Attendance at relevant client meetings with HMRC Commercial and civil service stakeholders

  • Process development, commercial governance and obligation management (including advice to non-commercial teams on commercial-related processes)

  • Leading or supporting major contract changes and renegotiation (drafting and negotiation with internal stakeholders and HMRC)

  • Contract interpretation and communication of contract changes and commercial decisions as required

  • Commercial advice/awareness/contract education

  • Work closely with legal counsel

Why you?

Skills and Experience you'll bring:

  • Clear evidence of possessing a strong level of commercial awareness and client-facing negotiation leadership in previous role(s). Ideally within Public Sector but large scale corporate private sector experience will suffice

  • Relevant Commercial and Contract management experience 5+ years, WCC (IACCM) accreditation or membership (but not mandatory)

  • Commercial acumen and diplomacy

  • Negotiation skills

  • Understanding of financial processes eg, complex charging structures and cash optimisation

  • Proposal/bid development and approvals (Commercial aspects).

  • Contract management

  • Strong communications, Stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience in managing customer relationships.

  • Good interpersonal skills. Team player.

  • Understanding excellence in people management/development

  • Ability to manage own time and deadlines

  • Ability to report on project status

  • Ability to facilitate workshops & meetings

  • Knowledge of MS Office tools eg Outlook and Teams

  • Customer service ethos
