IT Engineer

Thorn SDS provides specialist consultancy and managed services into the European Space and Defence sectors. Our teams of highly skilled engineers and technicians deliver critical services to our clients, often Embedded within their core operational areas.

Ideally you should have a good level of experience in most of the following areas:

Scripting, Networking, Linux, Firewalls, Windows, and Virtual Servers, Cabling and Hardware Installations.

Responsibilities:

• Check and update the Tasking to deliver set tasks by an agreed deadline
• Carry out daily on-site checks
• Conduct basic system fault-finding
• Undertake basic fault resolution eg hard disk replacement, network card replacement
• Conduct patching activities (largely MS & Linux) and update the patching spreadsheet and other patching documentation in line with the correct procedure
• Undergo basic operation and maintenance of Cisco equipment
• Maintain the virtual machines (VMs)
• Carry out cable laying and tidying to CIDA standard as required
• Follow the Engineer Password Management Procedure
• Review and update the callout and remedial action spreadsheet management as required
• Gather intelligence and knowledge of site-specific working and installation information and keep the team up to date with any specific requirements/changes
• Liaise with the local client during site visits
• Carry out other tasks when requested by the Engineering Team Leader or Programme Manager

Due to the security restrictions of the program, you must hold a UK passport, and ideally a high level of UK security clearance or be willing to undertake this
