Is this role right for you?

This role is entitled Senior Software Engineer, what we really need is an exceptional senior software engineer with 5-6+ years of experience who can architect, code, and lead small teams in the development of a wide variety of software projects, within an AWS/Azure native cloud environment - ideally in a consulting or public sector environment.

Adept at tackling business problems using technology solutions with a focus on user centred design (UCD), you will be part of a fantastic multi-disciplinary team who are part of an enviable collaborative business culture.

The basics you really need to demonstrate you can do:

• A proven track record of software development with significant experience of the full development life cycle developing user-centred digital solutions
• Extensive experience of developing software solutions using a variety of frameworks and across an array of different programming languages such as Java, C#, ASP.NET MVC, Go, Python, Ruby or Node with a willingness to learn others
• Practical experience of developing solutions in a cloud environment using platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud including their associated services
• Infrastructure As Code experience - Cloudformation, Terraform or ARM or similar
• Be an advocate for producing re-useable, clean, concise code
• Containerisation experience - Docker or Kubernetes or similar
• Excellent team working, collaborative and communication skills
• Experience of working in an agile environment
• Have experience of or be an advocate for mentoring/coaching and upskilling others
• Previous experience of leading projects and/or teams would be highly advantageous
• Consultancy and/or .GOV sector experience would be highly desirable

Experience required for the role (essentials):

• Act as a Technical SME within the squad and produce user-centred software based on business requirements and following best practice
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to explore, design and deliver solutions to client problems
• Create secure, accessible services in a variety of frameworks and languages adhering to best practices and open standards.
• Present new prototypes to internal/external stakeholders in a clear concise manner
• Create solutions following industry best practices and using techniques such as CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Develop software solutions in native cloud environments leveraging on services from the likes of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud (GCP)
• Build great relationships with your team and stakeholders
