Full stack developer - Remote - up to £65k - Ruby on Rails

Our client is seeking a full stack development professional to join their team to aid in the development of company critical web and mobile applications. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience across the full stack of development and ideally with Ruby on Rails experience, but are open to other Back End languages/frameworks. Exposure to testing would be a great plus but not essential.

Experience

  • Strong experience in designing and developing systems and functionality across a range of languages and frameworks to solve the challenges at hand.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS and other Front End technologies.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of one or many Server Side programming languages and SQL.
  • Demonstrable experience using GIT within team environments and automated development workflows.
  • Experienced in implementing automated testing frameworks (Unit, snapshot, end-to-end and integration tests).
  • Proven experience in building websites and/or progressive web applications.
  • Extensive experience of having worked on a diverse set of projects.
  • Experience of the user research-driven development model.
  • Experience working in an agile team environment following the SCRUM methodology and using relevant tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience in monitoring and optimising applications for scale including caching, background task handling, monitoring and performance optimisation.
  • Experience or knowledge of Ruby and/or Rails. (Desirable)
  • Experience in decoupled architectures using APIs and/or GraphQL. (Desirable)
  • Experience in using docker, managing server infrastructure and/or serverless architectures. (Desirable)
  • Experience using event streaming or working with an event driven architecture (eg, Kafka, queueing etc.). (Desirable)
  • Ability to mentor and provide constructive feedback to members of the team. (Desirable)
  • Understanding of accessibility best practices. (Desirable)
