The role

As a systems software architect, much of your focus will be on working, with the open-source community, to provide the best possible support for their hardware platforms in the mainline Linux Kernel.

The UK team's role is one of close collaboration with the broader project team but also the growing hardware architecture teams in the UK and internal customers to gather business requirements and use them to drive forward the architecture, implementation, and hardware/software improvements.

Essential experience

• Able to work efficiently in a multi-cultural, rapidly changing environment. This may involve managing small, focused teams.
• Able to Grasp end-to-end platform design and understand the relevance to low-level components.
• Excellent communication skills
• Reviewing and writing code are central parts of the role.
• Core architecture and support for upcoming architecture features
• One or more major Linux Kernel subsystems, eg, Storage, networking, particular purpose accelerators
• Related project experience
• Kernel-spanning topics such as virtualization, OS hardening, system performance
• Practical low-level architecture knowledge
• Open-source engagement
• BS/MS/BE in Computer Science or a similar subject.
