Data Architect

Data Architect - permanent

Responsibilities:

• Assist and identify the strategic information and data management technologies to be used. This covers DBMS, ETL, Warehousing, MI tools and Reporting
• Work with Data Engineering to maintain Roadmaps for appropriate technologies - ensuring operational and business requirements are reflected appropriately
• Ensuring regulatory and security controls are applied and ensure that those are included in data architecture design decisions
• Support definition of Architecture principles and standards for data management
• Identify and evaluating new and emerging technologies & products, alongside Data Engineering
• Ensure audit, compliance and security requirements are understood and reflected appropriately in the overall data architecture
• Collaborate with development teams to select development tools and other relevant products, eg, Object Relational Mapping
• Communicate the data requirements of any future infrastructure needs, working with IT to develop an approach that best fits current and future state
• Determine and document functional and non-functional needs for application and information architectures

Skills:

• Experience of working in a Data function ideally in a similarly sized business
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts/theories for a variety of stakeholders
• Ability to analyse project, program and portfolio needs, as well as help determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that involve remote and elusive symptoms, often spanning multiple environments in a business area
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate highly technical issues and strategy
