JOB TITLE: Data Analyst

PAY RATE: £52,000 per annum

LOCATION: London - hybrid

CONTRACT: 6 months

Are you an experienced Analyst? Do you have experience forecasting, managing databases and completing financial analysis? We are recruiting on behalf of a major technology company for an Analyst to join their team. They are looking for someone to begin as soon as possible and this person must have knowledge of SQL.

Responsibilities:

Complete well-defined tasks such as data preparation, database maintenance, routine financial analysis, dashboard automation under the guidance and with expected iteration from manager or colleagues prior to completion.
Make recommendations on the best way to analyse information, consistent with established standards and policies.
Provide regular updates regarding these tasks and objectives. Quickly and appropriately escalate concerns that may be outside of assigned area(s) of expertise (e.g., business partner feedback, process deficiencies). Start to recognize patterns and norms in the process
Deliver tasks that are clearly defined and can be addressed by applying standard tools, resources, and processes such as trend analysis by business, product, or cost centre, headcount reconciliation, identification of drivers of actual vs. Forecast variance, synthesis of results into drivers that relate to process or business, delineation of CapEx vs. OpEx.
Identify data requirements for a given business problem, perform root cause analysis, synthesise data, and compile standard presentations, reports, or dashboards with guidance from the manager.
Manage workload of a large project or multiple projects to maximize impact and refine timelines with stakeholders as needed.
Exercise judgment in weighing input against anticipated impact.
Document the underlying logic to allow other analysts or technical staff to study the analysis in greater depth.
Identify issues for defined problems, navigate unexpected complexity, and identify solutions for the proposed analytical/technical approach.
Effectively frame and escalate issues to be addressed by manager/stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting knowledge -knowledge of financial accounting, managerial accounting, and cost accounting principles (e.g., capitalization, revenue recognition, CapX, balance sheet inventory, analysing assets and understanding accruals).
Finance risk management - the ability to monitor the risk environment and provide insights to enable effective risk management and controls.
Financial modelling - ability to complete financial modelling such as deal modelling, M&A activity, multi-year forecasts, cash flow models, etc.
Financial performance metrics - ability to create, track and manage KPIs and other financial performance metrics.
Financial research and analysis - the ability to systematically gather and analyse data from a variety of internal and external sources (e.g. external valuations,10Ks, benchmarking, commodity movements) and draw conclusions, generate alternative solutions and evaluate outcomes. This includes the ability to add value to business planning and strategies.
Financial technical aptitude - ability to quickly learn and/or use a financial system/technology (e.g., ERP, SQL, or relevant systems), understand and clearly explain familiar finance related technologies, solve or analyse technical issues or provide useful technical insights when needed.
