Network Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Network Engineer to join our team in New Malden. This role will be responsible for undertaking a defined range of network engineering design, development, and test activities for various Combat System product programs.
Key Technical Skills Required:
* Experience with configuring and setting up Juniper and Dell Switches and Fortinet Firewalls
* Knowledge of Local Area Networking (LAN) and/or Wide Area Networking (WAN) technologies
* Understanding of switched architecture and its workings (DNS, DHCP, Security, IP Switching/Routing, HTTP, VPN, etc.)
* Juniper JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP or CCNA/CCNP and/or CCDA certification
* Experience with Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables (Cat 5-6), Fibre Optics, Racks LAN, WAN, TCP/IP (Ethernet)
* Network Management & Monitoring Systems e.g. PRTG and Solarwinds
* Good knowledge of all phases of the software lifecycle, with experience in Integration & Acceptance
Key People Skills:
Experienced in a multi-disiplined engineering enviroment.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to management and peers.

Qualifications:
Typically degree qualified in a technology, engineering, or science-related discipline
Cleared to SC level
Responsibilities:
Ensure communications function across the network architecture and meet the necessary requirements
Provide direction, information, and recommendations on network configurations and installations on RN platforms
Conduct investigations into operational problems or developments and develop and implement solutions
Keep up to date in relevant technical areas and provide technical support and expertise to others as required
Act as a member of a technical team and answer technical queries
Ability to communicate effectively with management and peers

The role regularly interfaces with the Network Engineering Team Leader, Network Design Authority, Chief Architect, engineers and detail designers, project management teams, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate a visible commitment to quality and understand and comply with company policies and processes.
