An exciting new opportunity at this countryside charity for someone with a relevant research background to provide geographical analysis and policy support.

Land Use & Planning Officer
Job Ref: LUPO/chm
Salary: £30,850
Location: London N1 office based but ability to work 2-3 days from home

This countryside charity is a long-established and highly respected voice on land use and planning in England. As they come up to their centenary in 2026, they're deeply involved in influencing far reaching reforms to both farming and planning.

You'll report to the Head of Policy & Planning but also work closely within a team of policy and research officers, and with their External Affairs, Engagement & Income and Volunteering & Partnerships teams.

In this role you will take on an exciting and highly varied programme of work in which no two days are the same. They are looking for a planner who has a strong interest in land use, tackling the climate emergency and securing equality, diversity and inclusion in planning processes and outcomes. You will:

  • Carry out research projects relating to their main campaigns, including on national planning policies, renewable energy and rural farming and land use
  • Advise and work with team leads and local groups on national planning policy issues of relevance to the charity's work, in particular through research papers and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) analysis
  • Advocate for the charity's campaigns and policies through supporting responses to relevant government consultations and representing them to policy and research audiences

A great place to work with friendly, enthusiastic staff and offices in Old Street, London. They place a high value on equality. They treat everyone with respect because they know it's the right thing to do. They also know that diverse teams make much better decisions, are more creative and more stimulating to work in. So, if you join them, you will be able to help them put equality, the environment and diversity at the centre of everything they do. They hope you like the sound of the job and will take the time to apply!

Closing date: Monday 27 February 2023
Interviews: Thursday 9, Friday 10, and/or Thursday 16 and Friday 17 March 2023
