We are recruiting a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Team based in West Yorkshire.

The Ideal candidate:

You will be a Real Time Software Engineer with an in depth understanding of Real Time Coding and techniques. You will know your tasks from your interrupts and be comfortable working from bare metal or on top of an OS. You will be confident configuring build environments, cross-compiling, configuring, deploying and debugging a variety of embedded systems on different CPUs and from differing IDEs. You should have experience integrating third party code and be comfortable doing so. Any experience with Embedded Linux would be highly regarded. You will be confident with the VCS and keen to produce clear, clean, well-documented and maintainable code. The ideal candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, who takes ownership and responsibility and wants to produce the highest quality possible

What will you be doing in this role?

You will be responsible for the full software lifecycle, from concept to production to maintenance. You will assist in designing new code structures and re-factoring old, rationalising, optimising and maximising code re-use. You will be tasked with improving the maintainability of legacy products, adding new features and assisting in bug fixes.

Key skills and experience:

Degree or higher qualification in Engineering, Computer Sciences or related discipline
Fluent in C

Embedded C++
RTOS
Ability to read a schematic
Version Control Systems, particularly Git
Configuration Management Tools – JIRA, JAMA etc.
CI/CD
Proven experience in creating/working with architectural designs for specifications.
Excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle and processes
Working knowledge of a variety software developments tools and cross-compilers
Ability to work in Windows and Linux development environments.
Demonstrable experience of software (bare metal and operating system based) development within Consumer Electronic, or similar industries.
Experience of communications protocols across different media and architectures (RS485, ethernet, RF) Desirable Experience

Experience within the medical or automotive Industries
MISRA/ISO26262/ISO14971/ISO13485 or similar coding standards
Experience of using continuous integration and build environments such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps pipelines (Azure DevOps integration highly desirable).
Good understanding of wireless protocols and technologies such as WiFI, Bluetooth, zigbee, z-wave.
Scripting Languages – Bash, Perl, Python etc.
