Here at Innovative Technology we have an excellent opportunity for a Platform Engineer to join our talented team in our global head office in Oldham, Manchester. This role will be responsible for the delivery of ITLs machine learning software systems.
Applied Sciences at Innovative Technology…
This position is a new addition to our Applied Sciences Department, made up of Applied Physicists, Data Scientists and Computer Scientists. Our Data Scientists help power our ITL products with cutting-edge machine learning algorithms and our Computer Scientists turn these algorithms into software solutions to be deployed. Working closely with members of these teams, you will provide deployment solutions for the software generated by the Computer Scientists. As a senior member of this team, you will be encouraged, and expected to encourage others to learn and develop, research current and new platform technologies and, most importantly, solve essential problems relevant to the department.

Our Opportunity
You will focus on all aspects of the efficient deployment of ITL machine learning algorithms. This is a broad role with the remit to be responsible for all aspects of the delivery and deployment of ITLs suite of Machine Learning algorithms.
We are looking for a candidate to design solutions that are simple, scaleable and secure, that can be deployed both on local servers and in the cloud.
Our team also participate in regular knowledge sharing events and quarterly internal Kaggle-style events related to ITL concepts and research.
Your role
Infrastructure/solutions architecture
Designing the hardware/cloud infrastructure necessary for optimal deployment of ITL machine learning algorithms
DevOPs: CI/CD
Designing and maintaining container and container orchestration systems for deploying scientific software within the business, ensuring optimal performance, security and stability
Designing and implementing an automation frameworks for all aspects of the ITL machine learning lifecycle, including build, test, and deployment
Build and maintain platform services/tools
Automating operations tasks such as monitoring machine learning algorithm performance over time or troubleshooting issues with production applications
Developing new tools and technologies to support existing ITL machine learning pipelines or creating new applications using new technologies
Point of contact/platform & automation expertise
Participating in meetings with team members and other stakeholders to discuss technical issues and propose solutions
Collaborating with other members of the Machine Learning team to design new features or improve existing ones
Your Qualifications
A degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent, or experience of IT systems and platforms
Your Skills & Experience
Experience delivering & maintaining an application stack on AWS or Azure
Knowledge of Container and Container Orchestration software
Experience automating software pipelines following a CI/CD model
Knowledge of source control such as Github
Some knowledge of software design with development languages such as Python, Java, Javascript
Hands on system administration experience with Linux Operating Systems
Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
Driven to learn new skills and technologies
Databases including SQL and Cassandra.
