Are you a Python Developer who has at least three years’ experience and want to work in a global company where you can develop and hone your skills? If so, this role could be for you.
Our client who has been at the forefront of global mobile satellite communications for over forty years is looking for a Software Developer with at least two years of Java Development experience who is happy to be based in its City of London HQ on a Hybrid basis.
Python Developers will be working within a small team in my client’s Satellite Control Centre which monitors and controls satellites and ground stations making use of many automation tools. The successful candidate will contribute to the long-term development of the software products for the team and their community of external customers.
You will need to be more than just a Python Developer. You will have a strong analytical mind set and be able to solve complex problems in a dynamic environment. Whilst also possessing the following skillset
* A degree in either Computer Science or STEM discipline
* Hands-on Python development experience, working in a real-time operational environment.
* Any knowledge of Kafka
* Any experience with Linux systems (RHEL would be preferred)
* Good Knowledge of configuration control tools
* Good communications skills and command of the English language
It would also be advantageous for you to possess any experience of the following.
* Any knowledge of databases such as PostGres and Cassandra etc
* Some experience of software development in small/medium teams.
* Any Knowledge of CI/CD working practices
* Space Domain Knowledge
* GCP
* Familiarity with web-based interface (Rest)
* Any experience C++
* An understanding of industry standard Secure Development practices
The successful Python Developer will have a very varied and interesting role, where every day can be different with your day today activities including.
* Assisting and taking the lead in small/medium projects initiated by the business or their external customers;
* Maintenance and enhancement of the client’s scheduling tool;
* Joining the 24 hour on-call rota for emergency support
* Assisting with the testing of any new development;
* Writing technical documentation / presentation in support of the development/release activities.
* Interfacing at all levels internally and with external customers, development partners and support integration activities.
* Interfacing with suppliers and making sure that the business gets high quality deliveries that comply with our standards.
