Role Purpose
The Solution Architect is responsible for the design and delivery of complex software solutions utilising technologies across the full stack of an n-tier architecture. Their role is to evaluate, define, and communicate how individual systems and components will work together to deliver functional and non-functional requirements as part of DIG Development team. They are a confident technology pluralist, evangelist, and thought-leader, able to articulate concepts to stakeholders and motivate multi-disciplinary teams delivering world-class software!

Skills & Experience
  • Extensive experience with distributed web-based systems built with Microsoft technologies and cloud, including:-.NET, particularly Core using C solutions-Front End SPA technologies (eg, React, Angular, Vue)-Automated CI/CD processes which include quality and security controls
  • Proven ability to establish strong working relationships
  • Familiar with cloud architectures as a deployment target, including:
    -Infrastructure orchestration tools for Microsoft Azure (ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
    -Possessing, or willing to develop, a deep knowledge of the Azure platform service catalogue
    -Able to map application platform and deployment requirements to Azure services and configurations
    -Azure DevOps and Git as a code repository, build, and deployment engine
  • Fast learner, able to explore, assess, and evaluate new technologies accurately and independently
  • Experience implementing complex software solutions for financial services/advice/wealth management customers
  • Strong technical communicator able to work with a multi-disciplinary development team to mature working practises
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Key Outcomes Translate the technical vision into deliverable roadmaps and components:

  • Engage with Product Managers, Architects, and Delivery Squads to communicate and refine the solutions delivered by the DIG.
  • Work with Project Managers to identify and control dependencies, risks, and timescales.
  • Create and maintain design collateral including code, diagrams, and descriptions.
  • Decompose DIG project deliverables into phased plans which adapt to the changing resourcing and risk landscape.
  • Balance the iron triangle of time, resources, and scope through careful selection and definition of delivery activities in an Agile delivery environment.
  • Understand delivery methodologies and team roles, identifying gaps in team skills and resourcing, and working with senior management to address them.
  • Articulate principles and attributes of distributed systems in a cloud environment, ensuring that the overall solution design and non-functional requirements are not compromised by delivery shortcuts.

Support technical personnel delivering solutions:

  • Show thought leadership by creating or supporting proof-of-concept algorithms and technology demonstrators across all parts of software delivery.
  • Alongside peers, contribute and lead open discussions on technical solutions, making timely and pragmatic decisions based on the expertise of domain specialists across the DIG.
  • Liaise with third parties including suppliers and customers to minimise disruption to dependent workstreams and from external dependencies.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for automation which improve delivery maturity in terms of cadence, quality, and consistency.
  • Work with operations teams to ensure healthy software is transitioned into support.
  • Provide reviews and feedback on delivered software as part of governance processes
