Assistant Buyer

Junior Buyer

We are currently looking for an assistant indirect buyer to join our FMCG client. This is an excellent opportunity for successful individual to gain buying & procurement knowledge and further their career with an international household name.

In this role you will identify, execute and implement tactical buying activity on behalf of the client, as well as drive P2P compliance through supporting functional execution of putting spend to market. As well as this you will ensure and maintain effective supplier relationship management as required and understand stakeholders and business needs and requirements in advance of all spend commitment.

Responsibilities

• Support team to increase purchasing coverage in HQ entities through driving credibility and trust with internal stakeholders, purchasing community and suppliers.
• Build category expertise and market intelligence
• Lead tactical buying activity in HQ for priority categories
• Track, report and capture value delivery from tactical buying
• Drive best practice sharing through key user network
• Support team to ensure category cards are accurate, reflecting tactical buy supplier changes
• Highlight sourcing opportunities identified through tactical buying or market intelligence to Procurement Managers
• Apply Global Control Standards in all processes, comply with GP Policy and other applicable policies as periodically updated and communicated, ensure correct execution and documentation of controls.

What you'll bring

• A broad knowledge of procurement, ideally in an FMCG environment
• Strong people skills and the ability to interact with key stakeholders and build trust at all levels of the organisation
• Intellectual curiosity and a challenging mind set
• Strong business acumen, knowledge of financial fundamentals and analytical skills
• Interest in Procurement with a view to developing a career in this function
• Ariba P2P/SAP experience is beneficial but not essential

Other Information

This a 6 month, temporary position. The role will be home based with occasional travel to Leicester
