Role: Senior Service Continuity Manager

Location: Hybrid - London or Milton Keynes (2 days/week on site)

IR35: Inside

Rate: £495/day (Umbrella)

Duration: 6 months

Security Clearance: Active SC

The Service Continuity Manager is responsible for:

  • Overseeing Service Continuity Management processes, procedures and key artefacts such as service continuity plans.
  • Supporting Product Teams in testing continuity plans, processes and procedures to ensure that weak points are identified, teams are trained, and workarounds are identified.
  • Supporting Product Teams in first line fault diagnosis and resolution, coordinating and liaising with internal and external teams to minimise service impacting issues.
  • Working with Business Continuity teams outside of IT Service Management to ensure that IT is considered within wider business continuity planning.
  • Ensuring that key stakeholders have visibility of, and are trained in, the service continuity plans, roles and responsibilities in case of a disaster.
  • Leading forums such as disaster recovery meetings to identify gaps and improvement opportunities within existing plans.
  • Acting as a point of escalation during IT events, signposting to the correct processes and procedures and providing updates to IT Service Management leadership.
  • Proactively focusing on continuous improvement of self and service, working with others to improve the user experience, simplify processes and improve efficiency of IT Services to enable the Government's diplomatic, development and consular work around the world.

Skills and Experience Required

We are looking for someone with strong technical skills and a proven track record of leading Service Continuity functions ensuring the availability and performance of live services, who can demonstrate the skills Operational Control Manager role-level, in particular:

  • Continuity Management (practitioner)
  • Technical Understanding (practitioner)
  • Ownership and Initiative (practitioner)
  • Availability and Capacity Management (working knowledge)
  • Service Management Framework Knowledge (working knowledge)
  • A minimum of ITIL Foundation is required for this role.
