SmartSourcing Ltd seeks the services of an experienced CFO for an interim period 6-12 months (fixed term contract).

Public sector experience within Digital change environments would be advantageous.

Start date will be January/early February 2023.

SC cleared environment, candidates who do not currently hold clearance will be willing to undergo the necessary security checks required (which can be carried out, whilst in post).

Key accountabilities:

ExCo level leadership of finance teams and all related activities including budgeting, business planning, financial reporting and controls, and development and implementation of effective financial strategies.

Accountable to the Board and Audit Committee for sound financial assurance, reporting and probity. Oversee the successful and smooth completion of the Annual Report and Accounts for FY22/23.

Ensure that the financial and management data and information is high quality and robust for timely decision making.

ExCo level leadership and support for multi-disciplined teams including digital, IT and automation strategy.

Ensure our client has a coherent, compelling and strategic approach to measuring and delivering value for money and efficiency. Provide key interface with their sponsor department, that finances are managed well.

Leading a team of c200 professionals and ensuring they have sufficient inspiration, support, development and guidance.

Working with the teams to make sure that medium and longer-term planning continues to take place, so there are strong foundations for the 2024/25 budget process and other longer-term issues, such as the estates strategy are progressed effectively.

Key qualities and expertise required:

Fully qualified chartered accountant, preferably with some public sector exposure. Extensive experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles specifically at ExCo/Board level.

Track record of influencing outcomes within an executive team and Board environmen and across the organisation.

Track record of achieving outcomes using highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to influence at all levels of the organisation and external partners.

A people leader who is well versed at supporting colleagues effectively through a period of uncertainty and has personal commitment to four key values: do the right thing; respect everyone; build collaborative relationships; and never stop learning.

Exceptional problem-solving skills and experience of developing and overseeing a strategic approach to budgeting, planning forecasting, and performance reporting that is risk-based and coordinated across the organisation.

Ability to lead teams undertaking IT and digital change, estates and HS.
