Network Engineer - Glasgow - 6months + - £400-£500

Requirement to be mobile and travel to customer sites across Glasgow to provide LAN diagnostics and repair

Technical understanding of the following technologies is required:

• Layer 2 & 3 Routing
• Aruba Lan Configuration & Deployment
• Aruba Wireless Access Points Configuration, deployment & diagnostics
• Structured Cabling Fault Finding and Diagnosis
• Knowledge of IPT handsets
• Fortigate & Cisco ASA Firewalls

Key Activities:
. Analyses and resolves mid-level incidents occurring on network/voice infrastructure
. Analyses standard change requests on network/voice infrastructure and accept into service
. Analyses standard change requests on network/voice infrastructure, develops plans, implements, and tests
. Analyses problems on network/voice infrastructure, developing and implementing long-term solutions
. Assists in the installation, upgrade, test, audit, and documentation of network/voice infrastructure
. Assists in the implementation, upgrade, population, and maintenance of a Network/Voice Management System
. Supports business continuity testing that involves network/voice infrastructure
. Advises customers, account teams, other technical teams, and management on more complex matters relating to incidents, changes, and problems on network/voice infrastructure
. Where applicable if shifts not in situ, provide on call support on a rota basis.

Capabilities - Network Engineering:

• Works with the minimum of supervision, demonstrating a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to work.
• Assumes responsibility for discrete areas of work and understand the commercial framework within which they operate.
• Assume responsibility for areas of technical work that demand specialist knowledge and understanding.
• Recognises specific business needs within the client organisation and follows up with relevant managers.
• Accepts most changes related to network/voice infrastructure into BAU support
• Implements standard changes related to network/voice infrastructure

Technical Support:

• Assists in the implementation, Testing, Support, and Upgrade of the following technologies with regard to data:
• Switches & Routers
• Network Load Balancers
• Security devices: Firewalls, IDS, IPS, UTM
• Wireless
• Proxy and DNS appliances
• Network Management Systems
• Implementation, Testing, Support, and Upgrade of the following technologies with regard to voice:
• PABXs
• Mitel, Avaya, Cisco, Microsoft Lync
• Session Border Controllers
• Voice Management Systems
