Junior Consultant / Consultant Waste

Job Description

You will be involved in a range of activities including project management, bid management, client relationship management and providing technical input on projects. Typical projects will involve assisting local authorities to design or implement changes to waste collection services; supporting the procurement of waste services or infrastructure; and supporting clients in developing waste strategies. You will be involved in multiple projects at once.

Person Specification

You will be flexible and have a strong work ethic. You will feel comfortable simultaneously delivering several technical projects and bids under pressure. You will be motivated, highly organised, and share our commitment to a high quality of work. A personal interest in, and commitment to, environmental and sustainability issues is expected.

Essential Criteria

Relevant experience, which may include:

o Working in a local authority's waste team;

o Working in a waste company providing services local authorities; or

o Working in a waste company providing services to private clients;

Good technical understanding of waste operations, including municipal waste collection systems and waste treatment facilities;

Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail;

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing; and

Demonstrable experience of applying creative, practical, common sense thinking to solve real-world problems.

Desirable Criteria

Experience working within the consultancy business model, and of working on projects to time, budget and client satisfaction;

Experience of participating in public procurement;

Experience of waste strategy development;

Strong research & data analysis and synthesis skills;

A demonstrable commitment to continuous learning and improvement so as to achieve high standards; and

A degree, especially in a relevant discipline.

Remuneration and Benefits

A competitive salary with excellent benefits (including Private Healthcare which includes dental provision , EAP, Death in Service scheme, Group Pension, Income Protection Scheme (after completion of probationary period). 24 days holiday per year (plus Bank Holidays) rising by 1 day each year to 30 days per year and the option to buy up to five more days annual leave. Monthly wellbeing allowance, an additional 2 days "leave" a year for volunteering.
