Summary: The Sharks Marketing Assistant handles key programs that are critical to community initiatives and fan development goals of the San Jose Sharks with a specific focus on youth marketing programs and management of special events. Major Responsibilities and Representative Tasks:
  • Manage the day to day execution of the FINatical Kids Club
  • Facilitate the San Jose Sharks literacy program: Reading Is Cool
  • Assist in the logistics and execution of the Sharks Learn to Play Program: Little Sharks
  • Assist in the execution of Special Events - Fan Fest, Prospect Scrimmage, Rookie Tournament, Draft parties, Viewing Party Network, Street Rallies while working with cross-functional teams to maximize revenue, impact and attendance
  • Assist Community Relations with various community initiatives including but not limited to fan mail, donations, community events, and league wide initiatives
  • Perform other tasks and projects as requested by the Marketing Manager Competencies and Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-3 years' work experience in community relations, marketing or youth marketing; sports experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and juggle numerous priorities and projects and to meet deadlines without sacrificing effectiveness
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Maintain a public image consistent with "role model" status
  • Clean DMV record and ability to pass a standard background examination
  • Establish and maintain rapport within and outside of the organization
  • Ability to provide administrative, financial, and logistical support to meet department goals and objectives while maintaining responsibility for key projects as assigned by the Manager
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain cooperative relationships with other departments and employees
  • Must have an upbeat outgoing attitude and outlook on work
  • Previous experience working with or a desire to work with children a plus
  • High degree of creativity and/or originality as it pertains to taking a program from strategy to execution
  • Knowledge of the game of hockey as well as San Jose Sharks athletes and team a plus.
  • Excellent Computer skills; knowledge of Adobe design programs, direct marketing software
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and events as business dictates
