Head of Corporate Communications

Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Head of Corporate Comms to join their team. This is initially a 3 month contract which may be extended for the right candidate
Develop and deliver an effective communications and marketing strategy for the business, ensuring consistent communication of its vision and ambitions for the region, as well as its services and achievements, to multiple stakeholders.
Ensure that business is open and transparent in its communications, and that activities are designed to engage with targeted, relevant, diverse audiences across the region.
Lead campaigns that promote the West of England - regionally, nationally and internationally - as a great place to live, work, visit and invest, in line with our ambitious strategy for clean growth that benefits every resident.
Proactively lead, plan and deliver comms and media opportunities and events that enable the delivery of the organisational and mayoral objectives and maximise the coverage of the Combined Authority across the region and nationally.
Provide expert and strategic advice to West of England Combined Authority and its leadership on matters relating to communications, marketing, consultation and engagement.
Work with colleagues from departments across the organisation to ensure a consistent and corporate approach to all communications, marketing, consultation and engagement.
You will need
Senior leader specialising in communications and corporate affairs.
Experienced in translating strategic organisational objectives into meaningful communications strategies.
Significant experience of leading a communications team or service, setting direction for the team and managing performance in accordance with the organisation's strategic goals
Successful record of leading and managing public relations and communications in a complex and demanding organisation, with multiple stakeholders.
A strong strategic leader, experienced at senior manager level with significant evidence of providing communications advice to senior leaders, sometimes on complex or contentious issues.
Experience of managing communications in organisations through periods of significant change.
