Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Ayr, is currently looking to recruit a Digital Services Support Officer for an initial contract until March 2023 on a rate of £135.12/day within IR35. The role will be based at on site in Ayr and requires the candidate to hold a valid, clean driving license and be able to drive a van.


  • Provide an Digital Support Service by logging calls and ascertaining the nature of user support problems, organising and prioritising of workload to facilitate the efficient and satisfactory resolution of those problems, thereby enabling continuous and effective use of IT resources by users
  • Analysis and translation of user issues which are logged and monitored within the Digital Services Service Desk system to meet agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Providing technical advice to users.
  • Specify and evaluate hardware and software to ensure that it is fit for purpose, thereby achieving best use of IT resources.
  • Commission and install new equipment. Customize the manufacturer's initial set-up to reflect the standards of the organisation, whilst taking into account the users existing preferences and ensuring all data is transferred safely and securely. This facilitates best and optimum use of the equipment and information held.
  • Undertake basic system testing and basic user training.
  • Provide first line support for local network problems including local wireless network and associated devices.
  • Execute various aspects of system administration including system performance checks and running daily back up routines of key clinical data across multiple sites.
  • Assign initial passwords and ensure appropriate security clearances are given. This ensures all members of staff have the correct menu to carry out their role and also maintains the safety of the information stored.
  • Provide accurate and up to date audit information of all hardware and software within the organization in order to facilitate tracking of hardware and allow the implementation of a hardware replacement programme. Information is analysed and stored in a database for future audit purposes and that software licensing requirements are met.
  • Participate in the Digital Services on-call rota as required to provide continuity of service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Condemn old hardware, giving advice on suitable options for replacement. Co-ordinate the repair and replacement of equipment under warranty with the corresponding company, organizing engineer call-outs. Ensure user has replacement hardware to minimise interruptions to their duties.
  • Monitor stocks of essential spare items and components and liaise with Procurement Officer to ensure availability of replacements when required.
  • Formulate new procedures for the Departmental Manual, implementing policies within own discipline, which ensures a consistent and high standard of service.

Essential Skills:

  • Requires a knowledge level equating to that of an HND qualification in Computer & Network Support/IT related discipline
  • Extensive Network experience and knowledge of networking protocols and software.
  • Ability to diagnose/resolve networking, software and hardware problems.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows 7, 10, VmWare Horizon Client, Microsoft Office packages, UNIX.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills and a working knowledge of LAN infrastructure including hubs, Routers and Servers.
  • Ability to shoulder responsibility; work in a disciplined, conscientious and mature manner.
  • Excellent communication/people skills.
  • Ability to embrace constant change.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Manual Handling Training.
  • Should possess or be studying towards MCP or MCSE professional qualification.
