The 'IT Solutions Architect is responsible for the design, architecture, and development of the OfS' IT services ensuring the overall integrity, confidentiality and availability of the service and data.

The Solution Architect will translate business problems into technology solutions for implementation.

Description

  • The Solution Architect,s responsibilities will include:
  • Understanding new technology concepts and identifying their practical application in the OfS;
  • Ensuring IT services are integrated and operated optimally;
  • Identifying the most appropriate solution to business requirements; creating High Level Designs translating these into Low Level Designs for operational implementation;
  • Working with the Delivery team to build, implement, test and document new IT services and playing an active role in the handover of operational support to the Service Support, Applications and Infrastructure operational teams.
  • Responsible for producing quality, secure, and resilient designs for new or improved services.
  • Promoting the OfS's behaviours and values; flexible, agile and collaborative working, including with staff and teams in other directorates
  • Ensuring that emerging technologies road mapped into technology strategy life cycle.
  • Solutions and services are designed and implemented to meet and support OfS strategic objectives.
  • Understands information security and the types of security controls that can be used to mitigate security threats within solutions and service.
  • Responsible for the regular review activities to gain a reasonable degree of assurance of the integrity, availability and confidentiality of the IT systems and data delivery architectures.
  • There is a positive technical culture, applying agile methods to development and completing quality assurance practices

Profile

  • The a passion for IT technology with technical depth but ability to see the big picture and operate at a strategic level.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills that underpin working with a variety of stakeholders supported by a positive solution focused mindset and good analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Have the ability to work comfortably under pressure.
  • Have the ability to drive and demonstrate initiative that can be channelled into research and design; and adept at leading teams or projects.
  • Knowledge of IT architectural principles and their alignment to business digital strategy.
  • Solid generalist knowledge of all aspects of IT service delivery; networking and infrastructure, identity and access management, security, Datamodelling and management, licensing, systems life cycle and associated disciplines.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Cloud technologies and their implementation as a strategic business toolset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Azure and its ancillary technology stack.
  • Extensive operational and technical design familiarity with the full Microsoft 365 product stack such as Power Platform, Power BI, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams (including telephony/unified comms) and OneDrive.
  • Good knowledge of security models, best practice and standards in the context of IT services including Azure IaaS/PaaS and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Sound knowledge of principles of data management/architecture and its application in a cloud environmen.t
  • Strong experience and knowledge of Service Design principles.
  • Production of high-quality documentation appropriate for the intended audience, adept at translating complex technical concepts into business language.
  • Good knowledge of security principles and standards building in security by design.

Job Offer

  • Salary £49613 - £54222.
  • Office based in Bristol.
