Project Digital Producer - Fixed Term
Posted on Feb 2, 2019 by Glasgow City Council
Are you passionate about using your digital skills to showcase Glasgow's renowned museums to the city's young people in a revolutionary way? Would you relish the opportunity to shape and deliver a digital project from aspiration to finished article?
Glasgow Life is a charity which inspires citizens and visitors to get the most out of Glasgow Life and the city. By developing a world-class resource, the Mobile Learning Project will engage the city's teenagers, bringing them closer to fascinating collections in a brand new way. The project will bring relevancy where previously there was none by making the museum environment come alive through the use of cutting edge technology.
You'll play a lead role in delivering the project's strategy from initial briefs to delivering the final product. You'll engage with the young people the project is aimed at to harness the knowledge required to develop content and form a prototype. You'll then coordinate, supervise and oversee the design and development of digital software and hardware interfaces, collaborating in both the creative and technical aspects of the project. At the same time, you'll ensure that the project is being produced within objectives, brand guidelines, budgets and quality assurance, and places audience needs and user experience at the heart of the project.
The first three months in the role will involve a period of intensive hardware prototyping, so you'll be creative with a deep technical understanding of hardware and platforms. You'll be able to inform decisions around technology and guide external contractors towards the end goal, therefore experience of developing end-user digital projects whilst being able to manage relationships and expectations is key. You'll be comfortable delivering digital projects end to end and have knowledge of designing digital resources for end users. In addition you'll be a creative person who can work in a high pressure environment juggling multiple priorities. You'll be comfortable making decisions, solving problems and not be afraid to change scope or direction. You'll be an excellent communicator with the ability to sustain relationships with partners, groups and other organisations.
By taking on this role, we can offer you the opportunity to work with world renowned collections in five-star prestige venues such as Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. We also offer a range of employee benefits such as an opportunity to join the Strathclyde Pension Fund, generous holiday entitlement, annual leave purchase scheme, childcare vouchers, staff discounts (including Glasgow Club), flexible retirement, family friendly policies, flu vaccination programme and career break policy.
At Glasgow Life we value diversity and inclusion. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from BAME groups who are currently under-represented in our organisation.
